- (continued from previous page)man dreamt three times after each other that if he killed the duck he would get the gold. This night the man and a few others went to get the gold. But when they went to get the little dog to kill the duck he was dead.There was a fort in Mick Daly's field. One night as he was coming a short cut from Dromod he heard lovely music and looking into the fort he saw a whole lot of fairies and they all dancing round about in a circle the like of which he never saw before. The men were dressed in buff knee breeches and long tailed red coats and as for the women he couldn't describe them at all, they were so grand. Then the music stopped and they started laying the table for a fest. They had plates of meat, bowls of soup and a keg of poteen. In trying to get a little nearer his foot caught in a briar and down he fell. When he got up there was nothing there only the fort, fairies poteen and all were gone. He went home and told his family what he had seen, but they only laughed at him.
