That so, he might be able to make some money by selling some things to the workmen, which he did: St Patrick was very angry when he heard this and said. "I here and now, prophesy that never again will there be a man of the name of Guickian born in either Aughavas or Cloone Parishes again".The late Canon R Dolan PP. Roonascoola and PP. of Aughavas from 1908 to 1918 told us while here in this Parish that when he heard this story first he was inclined to smile at it. But he grew curious about it, looked up the Baptismal Register and could find no name of Guickian in it though it had records for more than one hundred. He then went further and in conjunction The Late Father O Boylan, PP. Cloone he searched the Cloone Baptismal Register and no name of Guickian could be found there either, though there are several families of that name living in the neighbouring parish of Mohill. And the (Canon Dolan) told us that he believed it was a Tradition There.In further proof of the truth of the above we had a man named Mr Guickian N.T. who got a school in this Pairsh(continues on next page)
