    and as Peter was about to shut the door the eel screamed out "Ah Peter, Don't Kill Me. Let me go." Peter opened the door still wider than before. The eel wriggled out of the house, Peter following. When a few yards outside the door the eel put his tail in his mouth, and let a loud and shrill whistle. In a few minutes, as many as a hundred or more huge eels came on the street from the direction of the Rough (Fort Rough). They all remained on the street for a few minutes, in a circle around the liberated one and then set off whistling to the Lough again.
    Peter Kiernan never fished again at night at this Augharan Lough.
