- There are many signs of the different types of weather we have locally. There are signs in the moon and sun. If there is a ring around the moon it is a sign of rain. If there are rays from the sun it is another sign of rain. When the stars are bright it is a sign of storm and if the ashes are blue it is a sign of storm. The cat washing her face and putting her paw out behind her ear is a sign of rain. If the ass or the horse stands with his back to the wind, or the ducks fly through the air it is a sign of storm and also the little robin hopping near the door. The south-west winds bring most of the rain to us. The sheep flocking to the lowlands is a sign of rain. The cricket singing clear is a sign of rain. It is an old saying that a rainbow that is seen on Saturday is a sign of the next week being wet.It is said when the sun sets with a lot of clouds around it that is the sign of rain.
