- In a large district called Aghacashel, Co. Leitrim, there is a three storey house which is believed to be haunted. Some fifty years ago it was owned by Protestant police, and was [?] bought over again by a woman named Mrs. Guckion, Aghacashel, Co. Leitrim, and it is said she was only a short time living there when the ghosts of the protestant Landlords, and soldiers who were long dead, used to appear at night, and sometimes used to rock her round the room in the bed. She never got a whole night's sleep.
The parish Priest was informed and he said she would have to leave or get something done. She was a Catholic but did not practice her religion, so the Priest told her to say the rosary overnight before going to bed and see if it would bring any change. But no, nothing could be done she thought.
One day, a month later, the Parish Priest came with three men, and it is said he put all the evil spirits into three rooms and the men built up the doors and windows and the ghosts were never seen or heard of since. Whether this really happened or not we do not know, but it is plain to be seen where the doors and windows are built up.- Collector
