- On my father's farm there is a fort known as the "[?]". It is believed that there is a treasure hid under a large flat stone in it. It is also believed that a Dane was buried there and that all his treasures were buried at his feet.
About seventy years ago a girl in Longford dreamt about it, where it was hid and how it was to be got. After dreaming three nights after other she begged of her mother to come with her to get it. When they came within sight of the tree under which it was supposed to be hid, the daughter knew it and pointed it out to her mother.
She came to my grandfathers house and knew the name without him telling her; she also knew the names of the neighbours, and where they lived and she sent for them to come that she wanted them she also told them that a man named [?] [?] had a dog named "spot". [?] [?] was a piper and lived alone, a short distance from the fort.
When they came she brought them down to the fort and told them about the treasure and told them to get a spade and lift the stone and that a pot of gold was right under it. She also told them that there was a little dog the same as [?][?] minding it and that he was to be killed and buried about a quarter of a mile from the fort, and that [?][?] dog was to be killed and thrown into the place of the treasure.(continues on next page)- Collector
