    From 1826 till 1931 the Orangemen never attempted to hold their walk in Ballinamore, or in the immediate neighbourhood.

    Each boy's determination
    To rout those Orange clans,
    Like the spirit of the Nation
    In the days of Black and Tans.
    To wreck that hated platform
    They all worked with a will,
    And amidst the crashing timber
    They sang of Ardrum Hill.
    The job was soon completed,
    And, while waiting the attack,
    They hoisted the Tri-colour
    And pulled down the Union Jack.
    With the colours proudly floating
    Their victory was won,
    For the Orangemen retreated
    Like a hedge-hog from the sun.
