    On St Brigid's Eve which falls on the last day of January the man of the house goes out and cuts rushes and conceals it outside of the house until later on in the night. After a while he leaves the house and walking up and down round the homestead in the direction of the sun picks up the rushes and makes a circle. When he reaches the open door all inside kneel and listen to him. "Go on your knees open your eyes and let in Brigid". Then the others answer "Its she that Holy woman" A second and third circle is made and some words are said. At the last prayer the man comes in and leaves the
