In vain she hopes some thoughtful friend Might save her from so sad an end
She struggled hard to keep her feet, however poor, yet live to sweet
But nature could not long endure
The bitter blast that swept the moor
With feeble voice She did implore
Some help to bring her to the shore
No answer came but rain and hail
Her shouts were all to no avail
All hopes forsook her breaking heart
For soon with dear life she must part
She says I'll never reach the shore
And then she falls to rise no more
The flood went down in a day or two
Her lifeless form came to view
A note was found upon her breast
These lines to James* they were addressed
    (James the Madam (James Masterson)
