    My dear friend, In the month of March 1918 ...

    My dear Friend,
    In the month of March 1918. on Saturday evening hearing of your Mothers illness I decided I must go to see her, she being always a very dead friend of mine? may she rest in peace. When I arrived there I was taken immediately to her bed-side. I could Know just then when I looked at her, that the progress to recovery would be very slow if any, However I cheered her up best I could, and when I was about to leave she made me promise to call again to see her which I did. During that time Michael had being out, and when he came in I made a short stay with him, and after the usual "Good night" I started for Home again, it being 10 o'clock. As I hurried on my way and
