The first of the crops which is planted for the year is never planted on Saturday.
It is supposed to be unlucky to set a hen to hatch on a Saturday. Saturday is considered to be an unlucky day all through the year.
When a person is flitting from one house to another it is said to be unlucky to bring the cat with the flitting.
It is also said to be unlucky to flit on Saturday because you will be back in the old house before the year is out.
The three first days of April are called the "Days of the old Cow" because March borrowed three days of April.- Collector
