- There are two graveyards in Aughavas parish. They are situated in the townlands of Aughavas and Cavan. When St. Patrick was going to destroy Crom Cruach, he blessed the graveyard in Cavan. There is a well beside the graveyard which is called St. Patrick's well. St. Patrick blessed the well also. The people do the Stations of the Cross there every St. Patrick's Day.
Aughavas graveyard is surrounding the site of the old chapel. The chapel was built in the Penal days. It was thatched then. In 1837, it was made larger and the graveyard was made in a while after that.- Collector
