    of one another. They are all circular in shape and flat. There is a fence of earth around them and some old plantations. The are circular, with a fence of clay and a deck outside the ring. According to traditions the Danes invaded this country some hundreds of years ago and they formed these forts for places of safety. It is said it was they who built the forts. no owner of the lands ever interferes with the forts.
    There was a man one time coming home at twelve o'clock at night from playing cards, and he had to go by a fort in Rossan, and he was led in to it by magic and he travelled round the circle several times, and he could not see his way to get out, and he sat down to rest, and took the cards out of his pocket and put them under a stone. He got up to travel again and immediately he saw a vacancy between two high bushes, and he got home.
    There was a man one time coming from the fair of Arva, and he was drunk. When he was coming home he met fairies. He said to them "Well boys". Then they ran after him and caught him. They made him jump a big pond. When he went home that night, he was not a bit wet. He got up in the morning and went out and looked. He could see nothing.
