- First of all the flax seed was set.
It grew and when it was ripe it was pulled and made into sheaves.
It was put into bog water for nine or ten days to rot. Then it was taken and spread out to dry.
When properly dry it was tied into sheaves again. It was put into a house for some time, and then loosely dried over the fire.
When it was well dry it was pounded with a bittle. It was cloved with a cloving tongs and hackled.
It was carded and spun with a spinning wheel.- Collector
