- There is a shoemaker living in the district named Tom Meehan.
His father and grandfather were shoemakers before him and his son is also a shoemaker.
The instruments which he uses are: a hammer last, nails, an awl, wax, thread and leather.
The shoemaker only makes shoes for grown up people they do not make any for children.
In olden times children wore no shoes because the times were bad and the people were too poor to buy them.
At the present day children wear shoes during the Winter and in the Summer months from May to November they go bare-foot.
