    the hearth, they know that cold bad weather is coming. A red sunset reminds us that to-morrow will be warm. If we see the reflection of Clare in the River Shannon it is a sure sign of bad weather. When the hills of Clare look near we expect bad weather and if they look distant we expect good weather.
    Midges foretell heat and they fly when it is going to rain.
    When the soot falls down the chimney rain is coming and, expect bad weather when the smoke goes straight up into the sky.
