“When the Danes invaded Ireland they were very cruel to the Irish.”
When the Danes invaded Ireland they were very cruel to the Irish. They built many castles here and there. They built one in the parish and the name of it was Castle Quarter. It was a beautiful castle, but it was shelled from hill, and was levelled to the ground. Some of the ruins remained until some time ago, when the people of Newtownsandes took them down to build their homes.
There was a small house near the castle, in which lived an old man. One night as he was sitting near the fire, a rat came out of a hole and ran around the house. The old man followed him out(continues on next page)- Collector
