- 1. People used to begin to wear boots in olden times, at the age of nine years. There are no accounts of people who never wore boots or shoes, except some travelling-folk.
Children at present go barefoot in Summer, but they wear boots the rest of the year.
The water used for washing the feet is thrown out, but it is not right to throw it out at night.
Boots are not made locally, but they are repaired locally. There were two shoemakers in this place in olden times, but there is no one in it now.
Clogs are worn to the present day, but they are not made locally.
Leather was never made in this district. Foot-coverings of untanned leather were never worn.- Informant
