    He wrote the headline on a board of a box painted black with a bit of chalk pipe. The seats the scholars had were blocks of timber. They sat on the blocks while they read.
    When they would go writing they would go down on their knees, and leave the copys on the blocks of timber and then start writing with quills. They had ink made from the berries of [?]boltry.
    In this way they kept the education alive in Ireland.
