    When weary and lame a poor boy came up to a farmer's door,
    Can you tell me where they be or who can me employ,
    I can plough and sow, reap and mow
    And be a farmer's boy.

    My father is dead, my mother is left five children they are small,
    And what is worse my mother says I am the biggest of them all,
    It is little she thought I would labour hard if I could find amploy.
    I can plough and sow reap and mow and be a farmer's boy.

    There is one request he says, My Lord I have of you to ask,
    If you keep me here to the break of day
