    Local Heroes.
    There was a great swimmer named Tom Moffett who lived in the townland of Carrumorran Templeboy, Co. Sligo. One day two girls went to bathe. The sea was stranded and they went out about a mile and a half to a rock where there was a nice place to bathe. After a short while the sea surrounded them and the could not get into land. they were a long time there before this fisherman tom Moffett who came to view his nets saw them. The tide was into the shore then and he had only ten minutes to save them. He started off swimming until he reached the rock which was about a mile and a half away. Then he put one of the girls on his back and swam to shore with her. Then he returned for the other girl and had the two of them on shore before the rock was covered. The girls' parents were on the shore when he brought
