    beds in the following way. First I make nine strokes in the ashes and I say they are beds. Then I put two men in the first bed, one in the second that is three, one in the third, that is four, one in the fourth, that is five, one in the fifth that is six, one in the sixth, that is seven, one in the seventh that is eight and one in the eight that is nine. Then I take the extra man out that I had left in the first bed and put him in the ninth that is ten men in nine beds and only one man in each bed.
