  1. In olden times the people of this district made candles in the homes.
    This they did by melting the fat of the cow or the sheep and when it’s was melted into liquid they used an instrument called a mound and that mound was either made of lead or tin and it was the shape of a pound candle.
    The mound was pointed at one end and opened at the other.
    The wick they used was three threads platted together then the wick was put into the mound fastened at the small end with a nail
