   Rats are another source of trouble to the farmers in this place. They get into the stacks of oats and it is amazing how much oats they destroy. They are also able to bore potatoe pits and often in the morning a man gets a whole bucket full scattered about and half eaten. Turnips are also attacked by them and scooped. Cats kill some of these rats and poison is used on them also.
