- Long ago rush candles were made. The first thing that had to be done was to pull the long grass rushes, and pull the green stem off them.Then old butter was melted in an iron oval-shaped pan and the green rushes dipped in it.After that, they were tied and hung up to dry and were taken down accordingly as they were waiting for use.This craft has died away now and the candles are no longer around.
