- (continued from previous page)remains since that time in the hands of the Goore-Booths and was used by the Gore-Booths’ land-agent, Sir James Booker, being the last man to occupy it in that capacity.
Those “Irregulars” kept Rahelly House as their headquarters and paraded the district often headed by the armourmed car called the “Ballinalee”. Those forces occupied this house till the 18th September and the “Ir“Regular Forces” marched from Sligo, Manorhamilton and Donegal. The “Irregular Forces then vacated the building, sprinkled it with petrol and burned it to the ground and it still remains in that condition. So ends the story of this house which was supposed to be built by sweated labour in days now long dead.
A rather strange occurrence took place on several occasions in recent years. Benbulbin mountain overlooks this school and the face of it is all rock. There is one particular part of this mountain called “Ballinagalliagh Rock”. Within living memory part of this rock has been known to fall and each time an amount of twenty of thirty tons of rock falls.
