    whether O 'Rourke the overlord ever took any interest in the district in those early times.
    Naturally , Costello and his tribe very much resented the settlement Connell in the district and a state of perpetual warfare and raiding between the tribe years to have been the order of the day.
    There is a very vivid tradition of one at least of those raids in which for the nonce Costello suffered such single loss that henceforth he is said mohave left this district several alone .
    The Connell men were in the habit of fishing a lot more especially in the fien weather during the early months of the year as there was a prolific yield in those days principally cod , haddock .
    One beautiful morning in Spring Costello held a council and it was agreed that the day would be propitious for fishing and hence idealise for a cattle raid on Conell's territory
