    There is a manger of hay in front of the cows and each cow is chaine dround the neck with a chain which is attached to a cross-beam just above the manger.
    If a cow is a thief a piece of wood is put across her eyes and fastened to her horns. This is called a Dallog. (Irish:- Dallóg = a blind) If she is a roamer or a wanderer her horn is tied to her leg so that she cannot climb very well. The cow-tyings in the byre are generally made of iron chain but sometimes a thick rope is used. These chains are made in the blacksmith's
