- There is one new forge near Drom The smith is a Mr Dick Patterson. His father was on the railway. They are near a crossroads. He has a big iron tank into which he pumps water from a well for cooling his irons. The forge is an out-office of the usual kind with an iron roof. The door is the ordinary shape. The bellows is worked by turning a wheel. They were not made locally. The smith uses a sledge and an anvil. He shoes many horses + cartwheels. he puts handles in farm implements of a kind that can be bought in any hardware shop. Forge water(continues on next page)
