cake "rise." Sometimes the top was pinched here and there. Sometimes they blessed the bread when putting it in. Bread was baked in pot-ovens or on the pan if it was wanted in a hurry. A pan with three cains out ofit was hung from the 'crook' over the turf fire and the bread was baked slowly in this. It was turned when done on one side so that the top could brown. It was hot straight from the pan.
At Hallow-ee'n a great big cake was made in the pot-oven with large raisins + currants Put in it and a ring + a nut.
