- My townland Knockroe is situated in the north of Mayo between Castleconnor and Ardvally Knockroe means "the red hill" because it is covered with sand.
There was once a wood in this village. There are a lot of trees in Thomas Doran's place yet. There are four houses and thirty people in this village.
There is only one Protestant house in it and the rest are Catholic houses.
They are dilligent, strong, and hard working people. They get up very early every morning to go out working. They are all farmers. They work very hard on the farms to earn a living.- Collector
