The doors were so small that when a grown-up person would be going in or out he would have to stoop.
There were no windows in those houses but there was a small hole in the roof to let out the smoke. - When the turf is cut it is thrown up on the bank. It is left there for a few days to harden. Then it is spread out. When it is dry it is made into reckles. Then it is put out on the road with bags or donkey-carts. After a few weeks it is brought home and stacked.
