- There are two parishes in this locality. The parish of Skreen and the parish of Dromard and each parish is divided into townlands. Dromard means High-Ridge. It gets its name from the high position of its church on the side of the Ox mountains. Some of the townlands are Ballinlig, Ballinaphull, Buninna, Bunafedia, Carrowconnor, Cloonagh, (?) Carrowkeel, Carrowmorris and Longford. Ballinaphull means the "Town of the hole" because there was a castle in Bunafedia long ago and there was a hollow where water logged near the castle.Buninna means Bun Finn the mouth of the Finn stream. Skreen got its name from the latin word Scruinium which means a shrine, because Adamnan's shrine was laid in it.
