    That the cursed alien tyrants
    despite their rage and spleen.
    Must bid a dieu to Irish shore
    likewise to the hills of Skreen.

    and raise my cot anew.
    And raise the green flag over it.
    to spite the Saxon crew.
    Last night as I lay sleeping,
    with the stars and stripes above
    I prayed to God to guard me
    Back to the shadowy hills I loved.

    To view once more the old churchyard,
    Where the holly twine so green
    The bones of my ancestors lie amid the hills of Skreen
    We lived in that vicinity
    Where gorgeous days we seen
    Amongst the patron and the weak
