  1. The landlord that was in my district of Knockbeg was Colonel Joshua Cooper of Markree Castle, Collooney. The family can be traced back to the time of Cromwell, and it was in that time also the Coopers bought the land from Coote a leader in Cromwell army. The landlord was by no means severe on the tenants and the evictions were few if any.
    They divided the land into farms, each person got as much as he required. Some got more than others as the Protestant got more than the Catholics. The tenants did not sub-divide their farms among members of their
