- Hedge Schools
Over a hundred and twenty years ago there was a hedge school in the townland of Pull. It was about a mile from where Mount-town school is situated and was situated along the side of a road under a hedge. There was a thatched roof over it and there is a shed for cattle there now.
The teacher who taught in it was Master Gallagher, he had always about forty children at school and the subjects he taught were English, Irish and Arithmetic. That time the pupils(continues on next page)- Collector
