    wrote on slates with slate pencils. The children had to be in to school at ten o clock, at half past they got out to play and were called in again at one o clock. At three they got home. That school master was put off teaching and no other master was allowed into that school. After three years it fell, and a calf shed was rebuilt in its place. It was in that school my Grandfather was taught.
