    A Local Hero
I heard from the old people that one time there was a man whose name was Michael Carty.
He had one acre of land to mow. He got up one morning early and ate his breakfast. After he had it eaten he took his scythe and sharpened it and went to the field in which the meadow was and began his work.
He continued his work until one o’ clock and he had the meadow mown and he went into his dinner.
This is a work which would take three men to do nowadays.

I got this story from my mother M J O’H
