For our great Irish Statesman thats now nomore.
With his name and pedigree you are well acquainted.
In the Co. Leitrim his first breath he drew.
For he was a credit to the Irish nation
This Immortal her P.A. McHugh.That he was a noble-man by birth and breeding
His glowing intellect did signify,
That he was a genius and a man of eloquence
His country's enemies did not deny.
That he was a Fenian of high distinction.
With a reputation obtained by few.
Is indisputable beyond contention.
This great Sligo leader P.A. McHugh. In Ballymote stands an English Courthouse.
Which once refused to let him (go) in.
He took a sledge and the door he mangled
