- Diarmuid O Duibhne was one of the Fianna. Fionn Mac Cumhail was an other one of them. Fionn was going to marry Grainne who was a daughter of the King then reigning. When they were about to be married she fell in love with Diarmuid O Duibhne, as everybody who saw him did, and refused to marry Fionn.Diarmuid and Grainne fled from Fionn. Our fore-fathers say that they came to Moytura in the parish of Geevagh in County Sligo. It is said that they slept in a rock in Patrick Finley's land in the townland of Carrickglass in the parish of Geevagh in County Sligo. The rock is still known as Leabaenediarmuid.(continues on next page)
