- Long ago when the bride and bridegroom would go into the Church to get married the people would tie an old shoe to the car and put up a card wishing them luck.
Then when the bride and bridegroom would come out of the church they would kiss the bride. Whoever kissed the bride first would have the pleasure of cutting of the heel of the brides shoe for luck.
Another old marriage custom was that when some people were not invited to the wedding they would put a fox down the chimney and all the smoke would stay in the room because it would not be able to go up the chimney. All the guests would begin to smoother and rush out of the house to their own houses, that would be a warning to other people to invite these revengeful people to any other wedding.- Collector
