  1. Down near Coolaney there is a rock called the "Hungry Rock" It is very near the road.
    During the penal days the priest used to say mass at this rock. One day he heard that the soldiers were near. He finished Mass and jumped on horse.
    When the soldiers saw him they followed him and when the priest reached the rock his horse jumped the rock. The horse's hoof left a track on the road. The horse fell as he jumped and the priest's blood was spilled on the road.
