- Most of the young girls and boys around my place get married in the "Seraft" that is between Christmas and Lent. Matches are generally made because the people are all farmers and they give their daughters large fortunes. Sometimes a boy and a girl may have been acquainted for quite a long time but since it is the rule that a fortune must be got the old people have to settle the match. Some men go to the girls house and usually take with them a large bottle of whiskey. They know the girl will marry the boy but they have got to settle the dowry.
