    Long ago there were no boots or shoes imported into this country and the shoe - makers were more plentiful because there were more boots to be make. When boots and shoes started to be imported into Ireland, the people bought those shoes because they were cheaper and more stylish, therefore, the shoe - makers did not get much work to do, and they got scarce.
    Long ago clogs were worn by nearly everybody in this locality, but very few wear clogs now. There were for clog - makers in this district,
