  1. BIRTH AND PARENTAGE:-
    Festival - 16th May - Brendan, son of Finnlug, of the race of Ciar, son of Fergus.
    Brendan a leader in Faith and piety: born when Aengus and was king of Munster.
    Father - Finnlug, under rule of Bishop Erc.
    Mother's vision - explained by Bishop Erc:- "There shall be born of thee a child of power, who will be full of the grace of the Holy Ghost."

    ÁIRDE:
    a rich man, - near Finnlug - visited by Bect Mac Dé, a prophet. Prophecy:- "There will be born this night, between here and the sea, your true and worthy king whom kings and princes will honour, and he will bear them to Heaven."
    30 cows and 30 calves presented to Finnlug by Áird.
    1st alms given to Brendan.
    "Let this child be my foster-child henceforth and forever "
    Bishop Erc sees Altraighe Chille in a blaze - on the night of Brendan's birth.
    Baptised by Erc - called Mobhi (Movi) by father.
    White mist fell over Fenit.
    Braon-Finn = white - mist = Brendan. Finn = white.
    BAPTISM = 3, purple or dark-red weathers leaped out of fountain - fee for Baptism, - went with parents for a year- Then St. Ita, his foster-mother took him for 5 years" - reading the psalms under Bishop Erc.
