    unlucky. Matches are made in Shrove.
    Matches of farmers are different, because a farmer's daughter has to get a fortune, and a farmer's eldest son has to get the farm. Long ago the bride's mother would give her a tick of feathers or a set of pillowcovers and so on.
    On the wedding day the friends and neighbours of both parties, would come to the wedding and have a great dance and feasting. Long ago straw-boys would come into the house and start dancing.
