- There is another big hole called Poll Feirch. Long ago when the people used put their butter in firkins it used be kept inside until they had a car load of it and then taken to Cork by cart. It was said that on one occasion in order to make the timber weigh heavy, the people of the neighbourhood put all the firkins into those holes in the river.
