Till they planted their land marks on Keane's " Old Gneeves ".
The lustre of gold is not pure as the diamond's,
And where is the gem that could purchase today,
A soul so benign as that one that was Simon's
Until from our midst he was whispered away.
Gentle and genial, kind and congenial,
To needy and menial filial to all,
There was something most grand in his bland mind ethereal,
That shone like the son of a Vincent de Paul.
Alas that his loss should embellish my story,
That wife, mother, child, brother e'er should be seen
