- (continued from previous page)reached the field he was surprised to find the field empty. As the night was bright and frosty he found the print of the horse's hooves on the ground. He followed the tracks and they took him to the fort which was on the land owned by Mr. Daly. He found the horse at the fort. Then he said to himself that he would ride the horse home and tie him in the stable. He bent down to unloosen the chain and when he was about to mount on the horse's back he saw a red haired woman standing near him. He was a very courageous man so he stood back a step or two and struck the woman with the horse's chain. He put up a long battle with his opponent and at last had the pleasure of seeing her disappear. Very often afterwards the same woman appeared to him and even accosted him. Once he passed her on the flags in Killarney at a place called "Bóthrín Caol". After seeing her in Killarney he lived only a few short years(continues on next page)
