- Tramps call to our house every day. They sell tin cups and tin jugs. Some of them have bags on their backs. They sleep under cars, and in barns, also in old sheds. The names of some tinkers are Coffeys, Sherdons, and Briens. Nearly all of them ask for alms. They get food and money. They go around in numbers. When you give them alms they say, "God bless you" others say "God increase your store". When tinkers sleep under cars they full a bag with moss and sleep on it. When tinkers are near the sea they shave.
